To Artists, Art Writers, Curators, Art Enthusiasts (or those just simply browsing), thank you for visiting Critical Art Writings.
I recently graduated from a Bachelor’s degree in Art History and Curating and thoroughly enjoyed art writing so much that I wanted to continue the projects I had started from my studies. Both of these projects (one related to art criticism, whilst the other, curatorial) had commenced on Instagram. Yet there is only so much someone can write on an Instagram post before their audience loses interest. As a result, I decided WordPress would be the ideal platform for sharing my observations within the Art World in more depth.
As well as reviews of art, I plan to also use this blog for commentary of certain artworks or exhibitions as discussion is a vital part of understanding art. Art can be controversial, challenging or just downright ugly: Most successful works of art seldom share a cheerful message or use beautiful imagery. But beauty (and art in general) is after all incredibly subjective and I hope that you get some enjoyment or learn something new from my writings, as I continue to explore the vast expanse of the Art World: I have not even scratched the surface.
Have fun reading!
